The Lecture at the AGM by Professor Martin Biddle - TrustNews August 1990

An explanatory note

Professor Martin Biddle MA FSA, Astor Senior Research Fellow, Hertford College, Oxford will be speaking at the AGM on 31 October on "The Excavations at the Rose Theatre and Globe Theatre and their implications for archaeology in Winchester and elsewhere".

Professor Biddle was responsible for setting up the first urban archeaological dig in the world aimed at reconstructing the history of the city: The city chosen for this work was Winchester. The Winchester Research Unit was set up by Professor Biddle in 1968 to evalulate the results of the dig. This lecture promises to be extremely interesting and it is hoped that as many people as possible will come to hear Professor Biddle.
