The demise of the holm oak in the High Street was a timely reminder, and the Trust welcomed the replanting of this site during the year.

Areas are protected, elsewhere Tree Preservation Orders are the only safeguard for trees at risk Many other trees will need replacing soon to perpetuate for future generations our fortunate inheritance. It is reassuring that, as custodians of important trees around the Cathedral, the Dean and Chapter are taking positive action which should inspire other responsible owners to do likewise. Whilst trees within Conservation. If members are aware of any such trees, we hope they will inform the Trust so that appropriate action can be taken.
