The President's Walks - Trust Annual Report 1982

This alone is worth a year's subscription' remarked a member during one of this year's walks. As usual they were full of surprises, some scheduled and others not! Lady Andrewes's garden at St. Cross and Mrs. Bendall's at Wharf Mill were both delightful, the latter having the special attraction of moving water. And the construction of the clock on Lloyd's Bank was explained by a craftsman who had worked on it.

The walks foster an appreciation of Winchester and often lead people to join the Trust, so we do not want to exclude non-members. But numbers have become a problem: people at the back find it difficult to hear, especially when traffic noise intrudes. Something needs to be done, and the Archives and Records Committee are looking at portable amplification equipment. If any members see a system in use which appears suitable, would they please give us details?
