Design Award Scheme - Trust Annual Report 1990
The Winchester Preservation Trust Award Scheme was initiated several years ago and has proved a great success. The intention is that Awards should be made for architectural schemes which make a lasting contribution to the City of Winchester and display a high standard of design and a positive demonstration of an understanding of the particular character and history of Winchester.
The Award Scheme is biennial and the 1989 Scheme was the fourth to be held. Results were announced at the last AGM, too late to be included in the Annual Report. The Mayor of Winchester presented an Award to Mrs. Corinne Bennett of Purcell Miller & Tritton , for her work on no. 10 The Close, and she also received a commendation for repairs to the porch damage at the Deanery. A commendation was awarded to Mr. Mervyn Perkins of Perkins Ogden Architects for an extension and alterations to Harestock Primary School.
Mrs. Dot Browning was responsible for the organisation of the 1989 Scheme, which involves a great deal of work and we are indeed grateful to her and to the invited panel of judges. The next Scheme will take place in 1991.
