AGM Speaker - TrustNews August 2009
We are fortunate that our eminent architect vice-president, Donald Insall OBE, has agreed to give the talk at this year's AGM on 15th September. Some members may remember a previous talk when he enthralled us all with an account of the Windsor Castle fire and the repairs by various architects and other experts for which he had overall responsibility. On this occasion he will talk about 'Living Buildings', which is the title of his recently published book covering 50 years of the architectural practice that he founded. His theme is that a building lives because it changes over its lifetime as it decays and is repaired, and as it is changed by its owners to meet changing circumstances. The book has a wealth of fascinating case studies (some in Winchester that he will no doubt refer to), all beautifully illustrated, and we can be sure that his talk will be too..
