Rubbish Bins - TrustNews June 10

Rubbish Bins

A lively discussion took place at the last winter talk about rubbish bins, following up on the subject of “Eyesores and Delights” which were featured in the last edition of TrustNews. There was complete agreement and dismay about the growing number of rubbish bins cluttering our streets and the apparent lack of control and ownership. As a result the Chairman had a constructive meeting with the manager of the Business Improvement District partnership (BID), Keith Wilson. Keith was already investigating different types of refuse collection contracts and in the meantime is asking the Community Support Officers and the police to clamp down on blatant litter and overflowing bins. Efforts will also be made to tidy up bin areas such as the ones in St George’s Street and to get businesses to store their bins inside their premises wherever possible. We will continue to monitor this situation.
