Poetry - TrustNews Dec 12

The Trust has for some time been looking for ways of engaging with young people. Some years ago we ran the Chippindale Venture (named in memory of Frank Chippindale, a keen educationalist and Trust member), took teams of architects and planners into Winchester Schools to run day long design projects. The exercise became too complicated with the introduction of government bureaucracy and the extra pressure teachers were finding to fit such exercises into their curriculum so we terminated the project.

To try to re-engage with young people who after all are to inherit this wonderful city, we have decided to invite pupils of local schools to compose an illustrated poem, or write a piece on their view of Winchester. Their contributions will be judged by a selected panel of about four people. The Trust will then organise a book to be published using the best material from the contributions.
