We are publishing the first 7 walks in this edition of Trust News with the remaining ones appearing in the June edition. We are, with one exception, organising the walks on Wednesdays again. The Trust Council discussed which day of the week we should choose and whether we should revert to Thursdays but decided to keep to Wednesdays for another year. I know this is not suitable for some people although it is better for others. We will review the day chosen at the end of the year, so views on all this are welcome. Having said all that, one of the walks, the visit to Winnall Moors Nature Reserve on 11 July, is on a Thursday because the fishing club have the trout fishing rights on Wednesdays and would not welcome a visiting group disturbing the fish.
Please look at the notes at the end of the programme which covers donations, special features for some of the walks and an encouragement to book your place in advance. From the pattern of previous years, the walks in June and July tend to be particularly well attended, so it is sensible to secure a place in advance to avoid being asked to step down because the maximum number has been exceeded.
We have been well served by a number of faithful guides over the years and many of them are helping us again this year for which I am very grateful. In the first half we have two new guides who are very welcome. One of them, Chris Grover will be drawing from her extensive knowledge which has been revealed in her new book about Hyde published in 2012 with the same title as the walk.
As always ideas on subjects and guides are welcome.
