This year’s guest speaker will be Ben Hamilton-Baillie, the founding director of Hamilton-Baillie Associates, a consultancy in Bristol specialising in street design and traffic in towns. He is the UK’s leading exponent on low-speed design principles and shared space, seeking ways to cope with growth and to better integrate traffic into cities, towns and villages. He was the lead designer for the regeneration of Poynton in Cheshire, and worked on schemes for Fishergate in Preston, Exhibition Road in London and Ashford in Kent. Ben is a Built Environment Expert for the Design Council CABE, and teaches at the Universities of Bath, Cambridge and the West of England. He is author of ‘Traffic in Villages‘, a toolkit for communities, and contributed to the production of Manual for Streets (2) and to ‘ Designing Streets’.
