Winchester Carnival - TrustNews February 1988
Ever since the revival of the Carnival in Mayor Bidgood's time, the Trust has helped with its organisation and with the distribution of proceeds to various charities. It has also donated a trophy.
Sadly, due to lack of support last year (over the years the number of floats in the procession had declined from 98 to 5), the Committee decided not to continue in 1988 and the remaining monies were given to charity.
The Trust will again be involved with the tug-of-war over the Itchen - an established and popular feature of Carnival Day. Any offers for a team from the Trust will be carefully considered!
