Mrs W J Carpenter Turner - TrustNews February 1990

To our very great regret, Mrs Barbara Carpenter Turner has decided to stand down as President of the Trust. I am indeed glad to report, however, that Sir Peter Ramsbotham, who has been a Vice President since 1982, has agreed to succeed her.

Barbara Carpenter Turner became the second President of the Trust, in succession to Sir William Andrews, a role she has filled with the utmost distinction. Her interest and enthusiasm for the Trust, backed by unrivalled knowledge of Winchester, has been unflagging and it would be hard to overstate the contribution that she has made.

We shall be holding a Party in her honour at which a presentation will be made. This will be at the Milner Hall, St Peter Street, at 6.30 pm on Monday, 19th March 1990. I have no doubt that a great many members will wish to attend but since there must be a limit on numbers, we shall be grateful if members who would like to be present will complete and return the form attached to the Programme sheet to the Secretary. These will be treated on a first come, first served basis.
