A suggestion is to visit the stone quarries/caves near Beer, Somerset, which have been in use since Roman times, stone from which was used for the Cathedral reredos and elsewhere in the building. There is a conducted tour lasting about one hour. Names please to Mrs Ann Jones, 17 Cripstead Lane, St Cross. Tel: (0962) 67048.
