Projects - TrustNews Spring 1995
Since October 1994 I have taken over the chair of the Projects Committee from Antony Feltham-King and it is exciting trying to keep up the momentum Antony has created. There are now four new committee members in addition to the existing eight who will help expand our involvement in the community as we work to maintain familiar surroundings as well as initiating new and complimentary projects to the existing historic context.
One exploration now being conducted in conjunction with the Winchester School of Art is a competition for the design of a fountain in the east corner of the Casson Building in St George's Street. There is a water feature here at present and this exercise is simply to explore the possibilities of such a cranny in the city fabric. The brief given to the students is set to test their creative abilities and find fresh inspiration for Winchester. Mr William Pye, internationally renowned water sculptor, has agreed to sit on the jury. The jury is in at the middle of March! In the meantime keep us aware of possibilities for new projects.
