Butterflies and Moths - TrustNews Spring 1995

Hants & IOW Branch of Butterfly Conservation have produced this 60-page booklet on the butterflies and moths of Hants & IOW. Sites of historical interest such as Magdalen Hill Down, St Catherine's Hill and West Hill Cemetery are rich in butterflies because they nurture the native wildflowers and grasses on which butterflies depend. Each of Hampshire's 47 butterfly species receives a separate account. Moths, because of the vast number of species, are treated more selectively. There are nine colour photos (with an emphasis on habitat), 24 distribution maps and an indication of Hampshire's best butterfly sites. The Report is edited by John Taverner and sponsored by Hants County Council, Canon UK and Exxon Chemical. To secure your copy, write to Alan Hold, 22 Brook Road, Fair Oak, Eastleigh, with a cheque payable to "BBCS Hants Branch" for £3.50 inc p & p.
