Projects - TrustNews Summer 1995

Because of the commitment of the committee members we have been able to initiate a number of interesting and exciting projects as well as develop those already underway.

The Fountain Competition for the space behind the Echo building on St George's Street in the east corner of the Casson Building has now reached its final stages. After consultation with the committee we will be able to invite the panel of jurors to choose an appropriate design possibility. This may eventually lead to the further ideas for this space and the commissioning of a sculpture.

The Projects Committee has made contact with the Winchester City Council regarding the historical information signs. In conjunction with their programme of up-keep and renewal the committee hopes to agree some new signs for deserving, important, and, until now, unrecognised places of interest.

Other projects that the committee will be getting involved in are a Peace Garden for Winchester. developing of closer ties with Winchester College and other local institutions which have a large interest in the built environment and looking at further possibilities for the redundant Gamier Road Pump House. Please keep us aware of possibilities for other new projects. We would welcome ideas from members.
