Lectures - Trust Annual Report 1980
Following the three lectures at the end of last year, three further well-attended meetings took place at the Royal Hotel: Historic Market Towns in Hampshire by David Lloyd revealed many attractive places and buildings; Landscaping for Modern Buildings by George Perkin ranged widely over Europe and aroused some enthusiasm for shrubs and flowers in towns; and the meeting postponed from last session on the Winchester Castle Precinct by Michael Morris provided a detailed survey of the comprehensive development of this important historic area.
The current programme card lists the lectures for 1980/81: in October, a meeting relevant to the proposal for an urban studies centre in Winchester; in November, a discussion on private and local authority housing arranged by Winchester architects; and in 1981, the January lecture is on Trees in Towns, followed in February with the deferred meeting on Energy Conservation in Old and New Buildings, and in March with a lecture on Conservation in Portsmouth by the City Planning Officer.
