The Grange, Northington - Trust Annual Report 1980
Although the Trust cannot normally concern itself with matters beyond the boundaries of the City, your Council felt that the unusual step taken by the Secretary of State for the Environment in inviting the public to make its views known to him before he decided on the future of the Grange, required a response from the Trust.
Accordingly a letter was despatched adding the Trust's voice to those opposing the demolition of the badly damaged but still very impressive ruin of what has been described as "the most important house of the first quarter of the nineteenth century in Europe."
That the Secretary of State eventually decided to preserve the Grange was a source of much satisfaction to all those concerned with the preservation of our architectural heritage.
