Tree Renewal - Trust Annual Report 1980
Leaf fall each year reveals the old age and condition of many of the fine trees which are such an important part of the setting of our city. At some time old trees have to be replaced and discussions and studies are under way to decide the best way to introduce new trees in limited spaces with the minimum disruption to the landscape. The Dean and Chapter of Winchester have been and are continuing to examine the trees in The Close with a mind to the long term continuation of the fine quality of the Cathedral's setting. It is hoped that other important areas in Winchester will be examined and that plans for planting will be prepared. The landscape in 2080 wil depend on what we plant now.
