Award Scheme - Trust Annual Report 1980
Too often the Trust is identified as being preoccupied with preservation in a literal sense and its interest in good modern architecture receives little acknowledgment. This interest would be demonstrated positively by a Trust sponsored Award Scheme which is now under consideration with the aim of encouraging higher standards of design for new buildings to harmonise with their surroundings and the character of Winchester. The cost would be limited to the printing of a modest explanatory leaflet and suitable certificates for presentation to winners. The co-operation of Local Authorities in publicising the scheme would be helpful.
