Urban Studies Centre - Trust Annual Report 1980

Since European Architectural Heritage Year in 1975 when the idea was promoted nationally, the Trust has been considering the need for a Centre in Winchester. At the outset this would be for teachers to meet architects and planners at regular intervals to discuss town planning and the design of buildings. With limited resources it isfelt that if teachers at least are better informed about our environment then their pupils will in time reap the benefit.

Eventually with the co-operation of the many interested parties this centre could provide facilities for seminars and discussion groups for all ages and make available helpful literature on the town's buildings, old and new.

The Trust has some resources in the archives of the Jewry Street library and would welcome more in an endeavour to establish a studies centre in this historic town.
