Photographic Library - Trust Annual Report 1995

We have now completed recording in general terms the area of Winchester roughly bounder by the City walls. The photographs are 35 mm colour slides and record general views of streets as well as those sites and buildings which have potential for major refurbishment or new build.

Three slides of each subject have been taken, one for lending, one to keep as a backup and one set for lodging with the Hampshire Records Office.

The core set of slides have been taken during 1994 and are now being supplemented by further photographs recording alterations to buildings together with any new building being undertaken. This is of course an on-going project.

There is a further set of slides taken prior to 1994 which have been donated by various people to the Trust. It is intended that the most interesting ones of these will eventually be triplicated.

The Trust collection will be housed in a special cabinet situated in the archives section of the Heritage Centre and, as already stated, will be available for lending. The archives are currently being established and the way in which material can be borrowed or used is being considered before anything is made available.

We will be circulating all those establishments that might be interested in making use c this new archive facility once the system of use has been finalised.
