Winchester District Local Plan - Trust Annual Report 1995
The Trust has been actively monitoring the long process of revising the Plan, in particular emphasising the need to respect the external boundaries of the built-up area of Winchester. This culminated in a very strong public presence at the Public Inquiry in June 1995 support of the City Council's opposition to the actions of Winchester College and a development company - Cala Homes. These two organisations were seeking to overturn the "countryside" land classification at Barton Farm, Andover Road, in order to permit the development of the land. The Inspector's decision is not expected until early summer 1996.
