Archives - Trust Annual Report 1996

The consolidation of all aspects of the collection has been in progress throughout the year. A number of welcome donations have been received, including a large collection of postcards.

Contact prints are continuing to be printed from the collection of 1960-80s negatives, kindly donated last year by Mr E A Sollars.

Correspondence, reports and Minutes of the Trust 1957-90 have been passed from the Chairman into our care. These, and other aspects of the history of the Trust and Heritage Centre are currently being sorted through with voluntary assistance.

A new room for the archives was included in the application to the National Heritage Lottery Fund for an extension to the Heritage Centre. Environmental controls have been requested for stability of humidity (RL) and temperature. Both these, together with the effects from light (UV) can, if not controlled, cause deterioration to slides, prints and documents.

Paints and floor finishes will also be carefully selected, for airborne gaseous emissions are also harmful to the length of survival of archives.
