Planning Updates - TrustNews August 09
Bushfield Knowledge Park
Members will recall that the Trust has strongly objected to the City Council's allocation of approximately 20 hectares of land at Bushfield Camp as a 'knowledge park', subject to further studies of its suitability and viability.
These studies have now commenced and the Trust has been invited by the City Council to join the landscape team carrying out the assessment into the landscape, visibility, ecology and bio diversity aspects of the proposal. The Trust will continue to vigorously demonstrate the inappropriateness of this proposal.
The Silverhill Development — Update.
The Trust is assured by Winchester City Council that the Silverhill development is still on course for construction starting in 2011. Planning permission was granted earlier this year. The Compulsory Purchase Order is currently being drafted and will be published later in 2009. This is expected to be confirmed by late 2010 or early 2011 and then work could commence on site at the beginning of 2012 at the earliest.
The Friarsgate Medical Practice is due to relocate to the Waitrose Development at Weeke in October 2009. The St Clements Medical Centre is expected to relocate to Upper Brook Street on site of the car park between the Heritage Centre and the Winchester Family Church. Negotiations are continuing between the doctors and the City Council at the moment. The Parking Office and control room are relocating from Friarsgate Car Park later this year.
The Trust will continue to endeavour to influence this scheme as the design develops and as details are submitted to comply with planning conditions.
