Behind a very high wall in Romsey Road, opposite the Police HQ, lies St James' Cemetery. Originally the site of the Saxon Church of St James, this was one of three Winchester churches recorded as having graveyards in the middle ages. The Church itself was demolished in the reign of Elizabeth I. In the centre of this peaceful place you will find this mausoleum of the Constable family.
