The Old Testament prophet Zechariah said, 'Do not despise the day of small things ' The Twentieth Century architect, Mies van der Rohe affirmed that 'God is in the details.....' It is the small details of buildings, walls, boundaries and streetscape that build up together to give Winchester its unique character. The Trust is keen to help preserve interesting existing details, such as railways, porches, and walls, but also looks for new ways to brighten up an uncared for corner with a suitable piece of sculpture, or the planting of a tree. The Projects Group exists to identify areas that need attention. We can then offer help to building owners and users, by putting them in contact with the appropriate craftsman or tradesman. We can also offer limited financial assistance where this is considered appropriate. The group welcomes any ideas for projects, from whatever source. Suggestions can be dropped in at the Heritage Centre, or alter¬natively, given by telephone to Antony Feltham-King on Winchester 852444.
