The Chippindale Venture - TrustNews Summer 1997

The first Chippindale Venture exercise of 1997 took place at Harestock Primary School. As always the pupils, were enthusiastic and never failed to impress their "imported" tutors, consisting of Architects, Landscape Architects and Planners, and surprised them by their hidden talents and ability to grasp a complex project.

About sixty children were divided into groups and each team was named after a famous architectural monument for example Taj Mahal, Leaning Tower of Pisa. Stonehenge etc. They were asked to consider a new Drama Hall for their school and after many hours of work produced some imaginative results to be given crits on the final day by a panel of experts.

The level of enthusiasm from both teachers and pupils was indicated by the deluge of imaginative 'Thank you' cards to the Team Leaders. We are illustrating some of these on the cover of this Newsletter.

The culmination of the Chippindale Venture was a visit to Architects and Landscape offices in Winchester to give the students some idea of how buildings are put together!
