High Street - Trust Annual Report 1970

At last the row of houses below the Westgate on the south side has been painted and renovated and is a very great improvement. When houses need painting and look shabby it makes people think they should be demolished, but it must not be forgotten that a shabby new building after only a few years will look far worse. There are several areas which would now be improved by a coat of paint and some renovation, but particularly the section on the south side opposite Jewry Street which is very conspicuous as motorists wait for the traffic lights to change in their favour.
