New Museum - Trust Annual Report 1970
A questionnaire was received from the City concerning the proposed new museum. The Trust expressed the opinion that a new building should represent Winchester and the immediate surroundings and not a larger area of Hampshire.
The Trust also expressed a preference for other sites than the one actually chosen in Little Minster Street, which is likely to have very limited parking and is surrounded by a maze of narrow one way streets. While much of the property at present occupying this site is almost derelict, it is hoped that the architect will produce designs which will blend with the small scale residential area.
